Getting to know your host: Tracy Elliott

We thought it would be fun to ask our hosts a few questions so you can get to know them better – if you have more, please put them in the comments!

What was your first trip abroad?

My first big trip was to Belize and Guatemala.

Where was the last trip you took?

The last trip was to the island of Hawaii.

What’s your favourite photo from a trip?

Tracy-Hawaii
Active volcano in Hawaii.

What’s your favourite genre of photography?

Landscape photography. I love getting out with my camera and just going off somewhere to see what I can find. And if I get some great shots, that’s a bonus.

Canon or Nikon?

Canon

What’s your favourite travel lens?

My 24-70 f2.8 – my go to lens for everything.

What else is in your camera bag?

Definitely my 16-35 f2.8 and my 85 f1.8.

Do you bring a tripod when you travel?

I do bring a tripod. I just can’t leave it at home. I have to have it for those low light landscape shots.

What are your best tips for travelling with photography equipment?

Get a good backpack that you can bring all your key gear with you as carry on. And leave some room for some airplane essentials.

Other than your passport and camera, what won’t you leave home without when you travel?

My walking shoes. You need to have great shoes to get to all those stunning locations.

What’s the best part about hosting a photo tour?

The best part about hosting a photo tour is getting to know all the participants. Finding out who they are, what they do, and what photos they like to take, is awesome.
