We woke up to clear, sunny skies so we decided to attempt to go up Table Mountain. Unfortunately, so did everyone else who, like us, missed out yesterday because the wind and clouds meant the cable cars weren’t running. Though the line was MUCH longer than on Wednesday, it was a beautiful day and the view was worth it. We only saw a couple of dassies this time but when one yawned, I saw its little fangs and it didn’t look quite so cute! lol Its closest relative is the elephant (true fact!!!) so maybe they are mini tusks…
We then made our way to the winelands with a quick detour to Bloubergstrand Beach which faces Cape Town and where many a postcard picture was taken of the city. We also discovered it’s a great spot for kite surfing!
After a scenic drive through the mountains, we had a wonderful picnic lunch at the Boschendal Estate in Franschhoek followed by wine tasting at Simonsig in Stellenbosch. We then checked into our hotel in Franschoek and had free time to walk around the very quaint little town and watch the sun light up the mountains before it set.
