Now we are in the Kingdom of Swaziland. The only absolute monarch in Africa (Lesotho and Morocco have constitutional monarchs), Swaziland is ruled by King Mswati III who just took on his 14th wife. It was cloudy and a bit rainy during our 2 days so not the best for photography but we still enjoyed the beautiful rolling hills, seeing the mix of traditional and modern life and spotting my favourite tree starting to bloom – the jacaranda! Its purple flowers are quite stunning. Before crossing back into South Africa, we visited a traditional village where we got a private tour then joined a couple bus loads of tourists for a song and dance performance. I love African music and dance, so full of joy and energy. I put up a small clip on my Instagram feed if you want to hear some of what we heard.
